About Eight's Be More Awards™

Encouraging others to Be More in every walk of life, the prestigious Be More Awards™ honor non-profit organizations throughout Arizona.  The Be More Awards™ will shine the spotlight on the unsung heroes in the counties of Apache, Coconino, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pinal, Yavapai, and Yuma. The awards ceremony and luncheon, scheduled for May 7, 2009, will celebrate exceptional efforts of non-profit organizations made from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008.

Through January 16, 2009, Eight, KAET-TV will accept applications from non-profit organizations who are encouraged to demonstrate their achievements and accomplishments in one of five award categories ranging from outstanding marketing initiatives (Be More Informed), exceptional educational outreach (Be More Knowledgeable), exceptional arts and culture outreach (Be More Creative), innovative organization endeavors (Be More Brilliant), and extraordinary fundraising and event efforts (Be More Entertaining).  In addition, organizations will rally their supporters by encouraging them to vote in the Be More AwardsPeople’s Choice Poll (Be More Humble) scheduled to begin February 15,2009.

Winners of Eight’s inaugural Be More Awards™ were announced Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Camelback Inn. More than 300 attended the event honoring the outstanding achievements of Arizona’s non-profit organizations. Tom Ambrose, senior vice president/executive director of Phoenix Suns Charities, was the keynote speaker for the luncheon and awards ceremony. Ambrose’s presentation highlighted the vital role non-profits play in our society and their value to the community.

Applications for the Be More Awards™ were evaluated by an independent panel of 15 impartial judges ranging from community volunteers to business leaders from throughout the Apache, Coconino, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, La Paz, Maricopa, Mohave, Navajo, Pinal, Yavapai, and Yuma area.
