Attention turns to the U.S. after drone attacks in Jordan

President Joe Biden plans on responding to the deadly drone attack in Jordan that happened Sunday.
The attack killed three U.S. troops and wounded dozens; however, it is still unclear how exactly the U.S. will respond.
Daniel Rothenberg, Co-Director of the Future Security Initiative and professor of practice at the School of Politics and Global Studies at ASU, shared how he believed the U.S. will respond to the attack and what the country will do moving forward.
Rothenberg explained there is a lot of pressure on the U.S. to respond and its impact on recent global conflict. Biden also said the U.S. response will be “multi-phased,” meaning it will have multiple targets over multiple days.
Rothenberg believes there is always a possibility for a negotiated settlement to end the Gaza conflict, and although it is still possible, he believes the U.S. response will not increase conflict.
Rothenberg emphasized the main focus is avoiding any escalation in global conflict.
