Arizona State Supreme Court delays abortion ban enforcement

The Arizona State Supreme Court has put a delay on the enforcement of a near-total abortion ban until August. Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes had asked for the delay.
Even though Democratic Governor Katie Hobbs signed a repeal of the ban on May 2, 2024, that measure cannot take effect until 90 days after the state’s legislative session ends, and it is still in session. Monday’s court order essentially narrows the window in which the ban could be enforced, if it all.
