Native American dancers offer online performances

More from this show

The Native American communities in Arizona have been devastated by the coronavirus. It also has caused pow-wows – an integral part of Native American communities – to be canceled. Tiny Rosales, a member of the Ojibwe tribe, has found a way to “keep the people dancing.” In March, Rosales created a page on Facebook called “Quarantine Dance Specials 2020.” It has more than 71,000 members and hundreds of video submissions from Indigenous dancers in Canada and the United States. Native performers employ various styles to tell stories, relay messages, promote healing, and celebrate milestones.
