Third-generation glassblower makes custom pieces for scientists

More from this show

Christine Roeger’s artwork can be seen from space – because that’s where NASA sent it.

Roeger, director for Arizona State University’s Glassblowing Facility, says glassblowing is in her blood. It’s a family trade that started with her grandfather in Wisconsin, where he made glass at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The family eventually moved to Arizona, where her dad worked as a scientific glassblower at ASU.  Roeger now spends her days making glass pieces at the request of students, professors and the occasional NASA scientist.
