Book: “The Bonanza King”

More from this show

You may have never heard of John William MacKay, but when he died in 1902, he was one of the most admired and richest men in America, whose search for riches also helped develop the American West. Writer and historian Gregory Crouch tells the story of MacKay, who discovered the Comstock Lode, a lode of silver ore located in Nevada. In telling MacKay’s story, Crouch also weaves in the stories of daily life in the West as it was being settled. Crouch will tell us about his book, “The Bonanza King.”
