Deadline on Drought Contingency Plan

The clock is ticking for Arizona lawmakers as they face a midnight deadline to have the state join a drought contingency plan for the Colorado River water or risk blowing up a compromise years in the making between the seven states that draw water from the river. Arizona is the only state that requires legislative approval to join the agreement, which will require the states to take less water from the river in hopes of keeping major reservoirs from reaching catastrophically low levels. We’ll get an update from Sarah Porter, director of the Kyl Center for Water Policy at Arizona State University’s Morrison Institute for Public Policy.
