Citizen finds ancient white dwarf star

More from this show

A volunteer with the NASA-led Backyard Worlds: Project 9 project found the oldest and coldest known white dwarf star. It’s an Earth-size star remnant that has rings of dust and debris. This star was discovered by Melina Thévenot of Germany using the Backyard Worlds project. We hear more about this discovery from Adam Schneider, a research scientist at Arizona State University’s School of Earth and Space Exploration.
