Congressional District 9 Debate: Greg Stanton and Dave Giles

More from this show

The debate for Congressional District 9 is between Democratic incumbent Greg Stanton and Republican challenger Dave Giles. The debate kicks off with a one minute opening statement from both sides about what they stand for and what they are proposing to better Arizona.

The debate’s topics included Trump, COVID-19, healthcare and much more. The two candidates have a number of things they disagree on, beginning with the current administration’s handling of the pandemic. Stanton commented on the lack of action taken by Maricopa County:

“We didn’t put a mask mandate in place, which if you follow the science and not politics, you know we need a statewide and even national mask mandate in place. That is really my critique.”

Giles said he believes the virus has been used for political gain:

“Oh, it has been used for political gain for sure. The virus is serious, and one death is too many… The president is going as fast as he can on this and has the support of manufacturing and pharmaceuticals to do it.”

The two candidates continued answering questions that are important to Arizona residents and their beliefs.
