New partnership to give more access to quality health care

More from this show

A new partnership hopes to bring more access to quality healthcare for people who don’t have insurance while growing skilled medical professionals for Arizona. St. Vincent de Paul and Creighton University’s School of Medicine-Phoenix Campus is teaming up with a $10 million investment from the Virginia Piper Charitable Trust.

A collaboration between St. Vincent de Paul Virginia G. Piper Medical Clinic and Creighton University School of Medicine will significantly increase thanks to a ten million dollar grant from the Virginia G. Piper charitable trust. The new partnership aims to improve healthcare access to Arizonans most in need while also growing skilled medical professionals. We talked with Anwar about this latest investment.

We talked with Dr. John Anwar, MD, Chair in Medicine, St. Vincent de Paul Virginia G. Piper Medical Clinic, Creighton University School of Medicine. Many don’t have access to good health care because of insurance. Their goal is to give many more people the opportunity to have access to good health care.

He discusses where the investment money will go and how it will impact them. We also talked about the faculty and who is teaching them. He talks about life when the students graduate and go to real life. We took a look at who will be attending.

We ask what the timetable is like for the teaching clinic. He said it will be starting in December of this year.
