Sky Harbor Airport passenger numbers expected to return to pre-pandemic numbers

More from this show

Thanksgiving is historically the busiest time of the year for Sky Harbor Airport and this year passenger numbers are expected to be at or near pre-pandemic levels even with the recent increase in covid cases. Also of note: there’s a concession-workers strike against a company that manages a number of restaurants at the airport. For more on all this, we spoke to Sky Harbor public information manager Heather Shelbrack.

Shelbrack says the strike is still ongoing but a number of concessions are still open.

“It is only impacting less than 10% of our food and beverage operators and today we have nearly 50 operators that are open,” Shelbrack said.

Shellback says there is no other impact to terminal operations.

Shellback says the busiest days of the holidays are this week. She also recommends booking parking in advance.

The airport is still under a federal mask mandate, and the airport has many cleaning and sanitation efforts underway.
