Katie Hobbs on Arizona voting law
June 6, 2022
After a lawsuit filed by the Arizona Republic party claiming that Arizona early voting law was unconstitutional, a Mohave County Superior Judge Lee Jantzen deemed that it was indeed constitutional earlier today, backing a law that has been used by 90% of Arizonans to place their vote. Arizona Horizon’s Steve Goldstein sat down with Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs to discuss the ruling.
When asked about today’s ruling, Hobbs agreed, saying “absolutely, it is constitutional.”
With the next presidential election on the horizon in 2024, less than two years away, Hobbs felt that this lawsuit was just a distraction to the next upcoming election.
“They’re trying to disrupt the next election that is right around the corner,” Hobbs said. “I don’t have a crystal ball in front of me but what I know is we need both parties to step up and do what’s right.”
Hobbs reiterated that this lawsuit was just another distraction from the upcoming election.
