Roy Tatem, Jr. talks about what MLK, Jr. Day means to him

Roy Tatem, Jr. joined us on Arizona Horizon on the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday to talk about what the day means to him. He talked to Ted about how he was inspired by Dr. King’s message.
Tatem was elected president of the East Valley NAACP in 2017 and served until 2020. He also served as chair of Sheriff Paul Penzone’s African American Advisory Committee and was a member of the Chandler Unified School District Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board, City of Tempe African American Advisory Committee, as well as Tempe’s Public Safety Task Force.
Tatem also completed the Race, Equity and Leadership in Schools Program at Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2019.
He has talked about how Arizona plays a role in the fight to restore and expand voting rights. He is also behind efforts to increase African American representation in political offices around Arizona.
