Yerba Mate

More from this show

Yerba Mate is a caffeinated beverage commonly consumed in South America, similar in taste to green tea. The drink is popular with Argentinians because of its’ strong cultural ties, especially with the fall of dictatorships and the rise of democracy in the 1980s. Julia Sarreal of ASU’s School of Humanities, Arts and Cultural Studies joins Horizonte to discuss the popular drink.
