Arizona Reporter breaks down ‘unintended consequences’ of a border wall
March 28, 2019
Arizona Republic reporter Daniel Gonzalez brings us the latest news in politics and immigration.
Gonzalez, who regularly travels to the border to cover immigration and Latino issues, recently won a Pulitzer Prize for a project that examined the unintended consequences a 2,000-mile border wall would create.
During his investigation, Gonzalez interviewed a smuggler in Mexicali. The smuggler explained that a wall would make their job more difficult. However, people will always want to cross the border; the wall would create the need for smugglers to get more sophisticated and allow them to charge more for their services. In the end, he explained, criminals would benefit from the border wall.
