Arpaio back in court

More from this show

Former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was back in court, this time in the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco. This stems from Arpaio’s conviction in 2017 for criminal contempt as part of a racial profiling case. President Trump pardoned him in that case, but a lower court refused to throw out the conviction. Now Arpaio is appealing the lower court’s decision.

Terry Greene Sterling, a journalist who covered stories on Arpaio and is currently co-authoring a book about the former Sheriff, and Jean Jacques Cabou, partner with law firm Perkins Coie, talk about the history and how we got to this hearing.
