Artlink supports artists in downtown Phoenix

More from this show

Artlink Inc. was formed in 1989. The nonprofit organization was created by artists for artists. They work with the community to find ways to support the arts through events like the First Fridays art walk. Their goal is to create connections between community organizations, city governments, local businesses, artists, and audiences. And, most recently, Art Link created TAFF (The Artist Forward Fund), a way to address the current crisis and the large impact it is having on artists.

Artlink emphasizes the need for artists in any community and how much they’ve already contributed. Phoenix is the fifth large city and this should be seen through their creativity. Despite the size, Artlink thinks the most notable part of Phoenix is the people living there. This is shown through arts and culture.

The pandemic hit the art community hard. Therefore, the art community lost not only their passion but also their means to live. Many artists also have lost part time jobs alongside being an artist.
