Rick Springfield was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1949.
He developed a talent for creative writing in school, but the Beatles inspired him to pursue music.
In 1972, after playing in various bands, he moved to Los Angeles and signed with Capitol Records.
He became well known for his Grammy Award-winning song, “Jessie’s Girl,” and several other top 40 hits.
In addition to music, Springfield acted in several shows, including “General Hospital,” “Californication” and “Hawaii-Five-0.” He wrote his first book, Late, Late at Night: A Memoir, in 2010 which became a New York Times bestseller and Rolling Stone named it one best 25 rock memoirs.
His new book, Magnificent Vibration, is Springfield’s debut fiction novel.
He continues to release albums and tour as a solo act.
