Chief Technology Officer
Ian MacSpadden brings to Arizona PBS more than 25 years of high level technology management experience working for local, national and international news and broadcast organizations, that include ABC News, NBC News and Reuters. He joined Arizona PBS in 2015 as director of engineering and broadcast operations, overseeing all station technical operations. Since his arrival he has guided station upgrades, such as adding a fifth broadcast channel and bringing high end 4K video production to its television studios. MacSpadden now serves as Arizona PBS’ chief technology officer.
He leads a team of broadcast an IP engineers who keep the station’s complex systems that broadcast five channels over the air and across the state, serving nearly 85 percent of its population.
MacSpadden servers on the PBS ATSC 3.0 technology committee, helping guide the network in implementing new technologies for its stations. He also on the board of editors for the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers, and writes for several technical publications.
