SUMMARY:CAFE Flutes Invites Children and Families to Make Music
DESCRIPTION:“Listen\, Learn\, Connect!” features familiar music\, hands-on instruments\, and plenty of audience participation. \nChildren and families can do more than listen when the Central Arizona Flute Ensemble presents “Listen\, Learn\, Connect!” at 11:00 a.m. Monday\, October 26\, 2026\, at the Downtown Chandler Library\, 22 S. Delaware St. The interactive concert will be held in the Copper Room South\, located on the second floor. The event is free\, and no advance tickets are required.  \nThe seven-member flute choir\, known as CAFE Flutes\, will perform a lively mix of music for all ages. The program will include Disney favorites from “The Little Mermaid” and “Beauty and the Beast\,” music from “An American Tail\,” patriotic selections\, and spirited dances. \nAudience members will become part of the performance by singing\, clapping\, snapping\, waving flags\, and playing small percussion instruments such as maracas and tambourines. CAFE musicians will also introduce the silver flute family\, from the tiny piccolo to the ensemble’s remarkable 10-foot contrabass flute. \nChildren will be invited to hold demonstration flutes and piccolos\, learn how the instruments produce sound\, and ask questions during a question-and-answer session. The relaxed format gives children a special opportunity to experience live music while participating\, exploring\, and having fun with their families. \nThe concert is supported by a grant from the Neely Foundation. \nFor event information\, visit the Chandler Public Library event page. Local poets\, The Haikuists\, type a free haiku on the spot from whatever is on your mind. The Karmacy invites visitors to take a bottle of what they need most and leave a note for the next person. John Paine\, a Sydney-based illustrator\, marks the fair’s 100th global edition with “100 for 100\,” a color-in mural of 100 art-history references. Curated collections of original art under $500 and under $2\,000 make starting a collection easy\, and Blind Date with an Artwork offers unseen pieces at $150 and under. Running for a purpose! \nJoin McDowell Church for the 4th Annual Earn the Bird 5K and Walk4 Water4\, a fun\, family-friendly morning that helps make a difference. \nParticipants can choose from a 5K Run/Walk\, a 1-Mile Fun Run for kids in 5th grade and younger\, or the 1-Mile Walk4 Water4. Proceeds support Water4 and its work to provide clean\, safe drinking water to communities in sub-Saharan Africa. All registered participants receive a custom finisher medal and event T-shirt. \nMcDowell Church is also hosting a food drive leading up to race day benefiting Extended Hands Food Bank in Fountain Hills\, AZ. Participants and spectators are encouraged to bring a food donation on race day. \nCome run\, walk\, cheer on the kids and help support two great causes!
