Journalists’ Roundtable: 5-07-21: Senate Audit, Justice Dept. Questions Audit

More from this show

The audit is the focus of this week’s journalists’ roundtable. Our guests: Howie Fischer of Capitol Media Services and Jeremy Duda of the Arizona Mirror.

This week’s Journalists’ Roundtable covered:

  • Senate Audit
  • Justice Dept. Questions Audit
  • Pro-Trump Audit Workers

Senate Audit

Jeremy Duda: “We were originally told this would take about 20 days, that was the expectation…according to Bennett, as of yesterday, they counted somewhere around 200-210 thousand ballots. Which is at most 10% of nearly 2.1 million ballots.”

Howie Fischer: “The thought of us still out here in July, you know, still trying to figure out what change we need to make on an election based on what may or may not be a flawed audit. It’s just scary.”

Justice Department Questions Audit

Jeremy Duda: “They’re very concerned ballots aren’t being properly secured, they could be damaged…They say that county election officials should have been the one to take possession of this or oversaw this.”

Howie Fischer: “That’s really critical, because let’s say you happen to be a resident of minority neighborhood. And all of a sudden, some white guys, perhaps he with MAGA hats show up at the door. Hey, we’re here. We are here in an official capacity acting under color of law. And we want to know, did you vote without asking who you voted for? How did you vote? Do you always vote? Because we want to see if it matches up with our precinct tallies.”
