Eight collaborates with 1000 Arizona organizations to raise awareness, funding

PHOENIX — (March 26, 2014) Eight, Arizona PBS encourages Arizonans to invest in their community and create change across the Valley in honor of Arizona Gives Day, an online fundraising initiative presented by FirstBank, launching April 9. Eight and nearly 1,000 other Arizona nonprofit organizations celebrate the unparalleled contributions nonprofits deliver the community, inviting residents to support the charities of their choice.

“Arizona Gives Day is an event that asks each one of us to reflect on the various contributions of our dynamic nonprofit community,” says Bob Beard. “For a station like ours that truly has something for everyone, Arizona Gives Day is a fantastic way for our viewers and supporters to demonstrate how Eight enriches their lives, whether it’s as ambitious as our commitment to lifelong learning or as simple as a nostalgia trip brought on by a favorite TV show.”

From midnight on April 9 and continuing until 11:59 p.m., Eight, Arizona PBS welcomes supporters to visit www.Azgives.org and select Eight to receive a charitable contribution. All online donations during this day will go directly to support/help Eight deliver access, excellence and impact to the Valley through groundbreaking, high quality programming; in-depth analysis of local issues; safe, educational viewing for children; and educational outreach initiatives to enrich Arizona's future.

“The inaugural event in 2013 was a big success and proved the commitment Arizonans have in supporting our nonprofits throughout the state,” says Patrick McWhortor, president and CEO of the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits. “We are excited for the 2014 Arizona Gives Day and to further showcase the important work our nonprofits are doing in our communities.”

Campaign made possible by Arizona Grantmakers Forum and The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits, sponsored by FirstBank.
