PHOENIX — (Dec. 4, 2014) Eight, Arizona PBS has added panelist Sean Price, M.P.A. to the lineup for its second episode of the “Veterans Coming Home: Ask an Arizona Expert” series airing Dec. 9 at 7 p.m., honoring veterans and providing public access via phone and social media to resource referrals and local experts who can answer questions from vets and their loved ones, on how to help returning veterans translate their military experience to jobs in the civilian workforce.

Sean Price, M.P.A is the Veteran Program Administrator for the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services.  Sean leads the department’s efforts in the areas of veteran homelessness, veteran women, Arizona Roadmap to Veteran Employment, Veteran Supportive Campuses and Military Family Relief Fund.  Sean holds a Master’s in Public Administration Urban Management and a Bachelor’s of Political Science from Arizona State University.  Sean is the secretary of the Arizona Coalition to End Homelessness and commissioner with the City of Phoenix – Military Veterans Commission. Price joins fellow panelists:

Steven Borden, Director of the Pat Tillman Veterans Center at Arizona State University, which provides a variety of resources for Sun Devil veterans to gather and find support to help ensure their success at ASU: www.veterans.asu.edu/. Borden established the NROTC unit at ASU and retired as U.S. Navy captain in Sept. 2012 after 29 years of service.

Robert Polston, Director of Veteran Programs at Intel Corporation, which recruits veterans who share the same dedication to discipline, quality, risk taking, and results orientation: www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/jobs/careers/veterans-military/veterans-recruiters.html. Polston serves in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Major. He is a member of U.S. Senator Jeff Flake’s Veterans Advisory Committee.

(Price replaces previously announced panelist Ted Vogt.) This episode of “Veterans Coming Home: Ask an Arizona Expert” focuses on pathways to post-service success. From returning to the workplace to enrolling in higher education, veterans face unique challenges in adapting to the culture of the civilian workplace and transitioning to a civilian career. The “Ask an Arizona Expert” series employs a live phone bank staffed by volunteers who are specialists in the field. Viewers can call in with specific questions about veterans’ issues and hear advice from expert sources, on a one-on-one basis, and receive referrals to local resources. The phone bank will open at 5:30 p.m. and remain open until 10 p.m. on the evening of the broadcast. “Public media is the nation’s premier storyteller. By providing veterans and their families opportunities to learn about important resources available to them, as well as sharing stories of service, Eight hopes to increase understanding of veterans’ issues and opportunities, sparking a community-wide dialogue around solutions,” says Eight’s General Manager Kelly McCullough. “It’s important to find ways to serve our large veteran population here in Arizona, and to help address their unique needs.” The panel will be moderated by Ted Simons, the host of Eight’s Emmy Award-winning “Arizona Horizon” who was voted Best TV Host in Phoenix by “Phoenix New Times” readers.

In addition to the live phone bank and social media activity, the half-hour broadcast will also be supported by a resource-rich website at www.azpbs.org/veterans. A video of the full broadcast will also be archived to Eight’s website for viewing online.
