Mesa police chief: I want to make our department more transparent and accountable

The city of Mesa hired Ramon Batista as the new chief of police in May, ending a six-month search to fill the position.

Before his move to Mesa, Batista worked for the Tucson Police Department for more than 30 years, most recently serving as the department’s assistant chief. His role with the Mesa Police Department includes overseeing approximately 1,200 employees and a budget of $175.9 million.
