Shocking image of father, daughter near US-Mexico border highlights immigration crisis

After a graphic photo emerged of a child grasping her father after the pair drowned in the Rio Grande, Roberto Reveles, an Arizona activist with Somos America/We Are America, and Lydia Guzman, director of Advocacy for Chicanos Por La Causa, join us on “Horizonte” to discuss the grim realities at the U.S.-Mexico border.
“Death is not a new element here,” Reveles says. “But this is a tragic, tragic incident.”
The father and daughter were discovered less than a mile from the international border bridge. The incident has brought more attention to changing conditions within detention centers, family separations and potential ICE raids.
