The Whale: A Love Story

Set amid the burgeoning American literary society of 1850s New England, the novel explores Herman Melville’s relationship with Nathaniel Hawthorne and how it transformed his masterpiece, Moby-Dick, which Melville dedicated to Hawthorne.

Beauregard’s fictional narrative delves behind that dedication based on extensive historical research including the study of the real letters and journals of Melville, Hawthorne, Oliver Wendell Holmes and others.
