State officials agree to put in place a plan to deal with Colorado River water shortages

More from this show

Arizona water officials say they will have a multi-state plan in place by the end of the year to deal with any possible water shortages from the Colorado River. A lack of snowpack, higher temperatures and the drought has water officials worried about declines in water in the Colorado River, which serves 40 million people in seven states, including Arizona. Federal officials put the chance of a shortage at 50 percent by 2020. We’ll hear more from Thomas Buschatzke, director of the Arizona Department of Water Resources, and Ted Cooke, general manager of the Central Arizona Project.
