‘Denial’ from ‘The New Yorker’ plus a live screening with panel discussion

Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7:30p.m.

Arizona’s Republican chairman, Bill Gates, was not making national news until former President Donald Trump contested the 2020 election results. In a short documentary with unprecedented access, “The New Yorker” follows Gates and his colleagues as they work to uphold the integrity of the vote in Maricopa County, setting the stakes for the future of democracy.

After the former president and his followers falsely claimed the 2020 election was “rigged,” officials like Gates have become targets of abuse and death threats.

Join us for a film screening and panel discussion at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication First Amendment Forum (2nd Floor), at 555 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85004.

Take part in a Q&A with Supervisor Bill Gates, “The New Yorker” writer Rachel Munro and director and producer Paul Moakley. The panel will be moderated by “Arizona Horizon” host and managing editor Ted Simons following the screening.

Join us in person! Register here.
