PHOENIX – (Nov. 13, 2015)
Arizona PBS is giving “Downton Abbey on MASTERPIECE” fans the chance to see the first hour of the final season three weeks before the Jan. 3 premiere.

Arizona PBS is hosting a free “Big Sip” tea party and community screening of the hit television series on Dec. 12 at 12:30 p.m. at Arizona PBS’ Studio A on the ASU Downtown Phoenix campus (555 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ, 85004).

Join fellow fans of the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning drama before the screening for the Big Sip celebration at 12:30 p.m. in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism’s First Amendment Forum. The special event features English tea in official “Downton Abbey” cups and scones, courtesy of Robert’s Catering. All attendees are encouraged to dress in Edwardian era attire, in the style of their favorite “Downton Abbey” character. The event also features a selfie wall where guests can immortalize their “Downton” inspired looks and pose for pictures beside life-sized cutouts of some of the series’ most beloved characters. Attendees are encouraged to join the fun online by posting their “Downton” selfies on social media using the hashtag #BigSip.

“‘Downton Abbey’ is such an iconic show. It has simply captured the hearts of so many viewers, young and old. We are thrilled to celebrate the series’ final season with the passionate fans whose dedication has made the show the long-running hit that it is,” said Arizona PBS Associate General Manager of Marketing and Development Dana Robling. “We want to send the series off with a celebration for the fans to thank them for their loyalty all these years.”

Before the screening, guests will have the opportunity to take an exclusive first look at other upcoming Arizona PBS series, such as “Mercy Street” which tells the stories of Civil War era families in the North and South whose elegant lifestyle and social structure undergo dramatic changes, challenges and unexpected romance. Attendees will also get a first look at the latest “Masterpiece Mystery! Sherlock” special, which sends Sherlock and Watson back to the Victorian Era where the Sherlock legend first began, as well as other upcoming programming of interest, including British mysteries and comedies.

Seating for this event is limited. To register, visit www.azpbs.org/downton.

Season six of “Downton Abbey on MASTERPIECE” premieres Jan. 3 at 8 p.m. on Arizona PBS.
