Learn the lives of famous women from their siblings in ‘Tale of Two Sisters’

Explore the lives of famous women and their lesser-known siblings. The miniseries airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. and is narrated by Rachael Stirling.

Sept. 17: Amelia Earhart

Last year marked 80 years since Amelia’s plane disappeared on her historic round-the-world flight. Although there have been many theories as to what happened (including a new one circulated in Summer 2017), no one actually knows for sure. Earhart’s biggest fan and supporter was her sister, Muriel, who kept Amelia’s spirit alive up until her own death. The documentary also features interviews with Amelia’s niece, Amy Kleppner.

Sept. 24: Jackie Kennedy Onassis

Jackie Kennedy Onassis remains to this day iconic, a figure of high fashion and tragedy. Her sister, Lee Radziwell, however, is less well-known. But it is impossible to understand one without the other because their lives were intertwined through rivalry and resentment, love and loss.

Oct. 22: The Diary of Anne Frank (9 p.m.)

Learn the story of Anne Frank and Eva Schloss, whose surviving parents married each other. Had she survived the Holocaust, Anne and Eva would have been stepsisters. This story features extensive interviews with Eva Schloss to help tell the story of her brief friendship with Anne, their lives in hiding, and Otto’s thinking after Auschwitz’s liberation and, ultimately learning of Anne’s diary. The film examines who Anne Frank was as a person, Otto’s decision to publish the diary and the way his efforts promoted Anne Frank’s ideals that fostered her legacy. Eva’s own incredible story of survival during the Holocaust is examined, while her participation brings extraordinary power, depth and dimension to our understanding of the young woman who authored “The Diary of Anne Frank.”
