Learn about breakdancing and its potential to be an Olympic sport

More from this show

Breakdancing could make it into the 2024 Olympics. Mesa b-boy James Monsour is all for it. Monsour is the owner of Jukebox Dance in Mesa. He is a b-boy (breakdancer) and teaches it at the studio. This art form has its origins in the Bronx in the 1970s. DJ Kool Herc would spin records and isolate the instrumental portion of the music to highlight the percussion. Those “breaks” in the music would then be looped together and the breakers would dance to that interlude.

We talk with Monsour and a student and learn more about this creative art form. Learn more about Jukebox Dance at http://www.thejukeboxaz.com/
