Concerns over re-opening Arizona schools

More from this show

Hayden Winkelman Unified School District lost a teacher to COVID-19 earlier this summer. It’s one of the reasons that District Superintendent Jeff Gregorich is concerned about re-opening schools. We spoke with him about his concerns and the district’s plan for a safe in-person return.

Kim Byrd was teaching a summer class online with two other teachers from the same classroom when she came down with the virus. Following the loss of Byrd, the district has made it a priority to teach safely.

As of right now, the school has begun learning online.

According to Gregorich, he believes on-site learning will be ready to go by November.
