U of A professor’s art explores stereotypes
Dec. 15, 2020
Artist Aaron Coleman explores stereotypes and policies that devalue people of color. His work is a collection of paintings, sculptures, printmaking and collage. He is known for combining objects like picket fences, coloring books or other well-known pop culture items with contrary images in order to create a work of art that reveals an uncomfortable truth that is both personal and political. He is an assistant professor with the School of Art at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He discusses his work, and how it reflects racial issues in our country.
