Title IX

More from this show

Title IX was signed into law by President Nixon on June 23, 1972. It states that no one shall be banned because of their gender from participation in sports programs at any educational facility that receives federal funds. Since it was passed, it has swung open the doors to women in school sports. We’ll hear more about Title IX from Deana Garner Smith, the senior associate athletic director for Arizona State University and Bianca Arellano, a member of the ASU Volleyball team.
