APS parent company profits jump

Pinnacle West, the parent company of Arizona Public Service company, saw its first-quarter profits increase five times this year as compared to the same time last year. The profits for Pinnacle West were $17.9 million. 2018’s first-quarter profits for the company were $3.2 million. Officials from the company say a colder than normal winter contributed to the higher profits. There are two cases before Arizona Corporation Commissioners, which sets utility rates, to look at APS electric rates. We’ll get more on the story from Ryan Randazzo, who covers the commission for the Arizona Republic.
