Project Reset creates program to help kids in schools

More from this show

Project Reset is a local non-profit organization with a mission to support youth and families across the state of Arizona who are struggling with mental health and substance abuse by providing prevention, early action, education and intervention.

They have created a program to help keep kids in school and get help simultaneously. They opened a new campus in October on 25th Street and Thomas Road in Phoenix.

Alexa Morgenroth, CEO of REST Recovery and the Co-CEO of Project Reset, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss more about Project Reset.

“[Our mission] simply put is to help every Arizona youth and family to get the services they need. I am a person in long-term recovery myself, and that process as a teen, adolescent, young adult was incredibly filled with barriers; it was one barrier after another. No matter how amazing the treatment center was or how free the treatment center was, there was a core component to all of them that nobody heard your voice,” Morgenroth said.

Morgenroth and her co-CEO also work on another project called Prevention Refresh which is a two-week after-school program. The main purpose is to market to schools asking them “not to go to suspension” as their first choice of punishment.

“We will take them. We won’t charge you; we are a non-profit, and we will educate them, and we want to increase the communication,” Morgenroth said.
