PHOENIX – (March 18, 2015) Eight, Arizona PBS will livestream the inaugural Arizona Roadmap to Veteran Employment Summit online, Thursday, March 26, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in partnership with the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services and the Arizona Coalition for Military Families. The Summit will launch a statewide initiative to connect service members, veterans and their families to employment opportunities, training and resources.

Through Eight’s online streaming, the public will have access to this exclusive event, featuring key partners discussing how job seekers, employment service providers, employers and community members can engage in the Roadmap effort.

Featured speakers include Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and LTC Chris Forsythe, representing the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Other key stakeholders in attendance will include representatives from Arizona National Guard, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of Labor.

“Eight is proud to be a partner in this important initiative,” says Kelly McCullough, Eight’s General Manager. “With more than 600,000 veterans and their families living in Arizona, the Veterans Employment Summit is a natural extension of Eight’s commitment to deliver resources and services to assist all Arizonans and create a positive impact to the state’s military and veteran community.”

Eight invites the public to view this landmark event first-hand at veterans.azpbs.org.

The summit launches the Arizona Roadmap to Veteran Employment, a collaborative effort of public and private sector partners, led by the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services and the Arizona Coalition for Military Families. The broadcast of the summit is part of Eight’s ongoing Arizona Veterans' Advancement Project, a multi-platform outreach initiative to serve the community of service members, veterans and their families.

“The Arizona Coalition for Military Families is pleased to partner with the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services and Arizona PBS on this important event to launch the Roadmap,” says Thomas Winkel, Director of Community Engagement for the Coalition. “Communities around Arizona have expressed a willingness to extend support to service members, veterans and their families and the Roadmap provides a tangible way for people and organizations to get involved.”

Following the conclusion of the livestream, segments of the production will be edited and packaged for Web segments that will be featured on the Public Media Stories section of the website. The Roadmap and links to its resources and services will also be offered online.
