River of Stone: The Powell Expedition

Robert Redford narrates this epic journey as Friends of the River, a conservation organization, re-creates John Wesley Powell’s second expedition through the canyons of the Green and Colorado Rivers.
One hundred and twenty years after the original voyage, they follow the route of Powell’s wooden dories through a landscape that has been greatly changed by human intervention. Archival photographs, excerpts from Powell’s writings and new film footage bring the history and controversies surrounding the rivers into focus. 58 minutes.
