Car and other vehicle donations

Donating a car, truck, van or other vehicle to Arizona PBS is easy. When you donate your vehicle to Arizona PBS, you’re supporting all the programs you love. Plus, you can receive a tax deduction when you itemize your return. Benefits include:

  • A one-year subscription to the quarterly Arizona PBS magazine
  • Access to the Arizona PBS Passport streaming service
  • A donation totaling $1,000 or more entitles you to become a member of Signal Society with the following benefits:
    • Invitation to behind-the-scenes studio tours
    • Invitations to in-studio screenings
    • An exclusive invitation to an Arizona PBS sponsored special event
    • Recognition on the Arizona PBS Donor Wall
    • Concierge direct line to Arizona PBS’ development team

To donate your vehicle, call 1-844-CARS769 (1-844-227-7769).

We accept most cars, trucks, vans, fleet vehicles, trailers, boats, motorcycles and RVs. If you have any questions about what you can donate, please call 1-844-CARS769 or send us an email to [email protected]
Vehicles donated will benefit Arizona PBS, a nonprofit classified with the IRS as a
501(c)(3) charitable organization and are tax deductible. For more information, you can check out the “Internal Revenue Service’s A Donor’s Guide to Vehicle Donations.”
We will need a signed, clear title, free of all liens. If there is a lien listed on the front of the title, please include the original lien release. If you do not have a title, please call our donation department at 1-844-CARS769. Our title specialists can usually help obtain a duplicate title from your local motor vehicle department.

The vehicles are sold at private auction. The proceeds are used to help support Arizona PBS. Funds from vehicle donations help Arizona PBS acquire and produce quality educational and entertainment programs and support our outreach efforts in the community.
Yes, you will be mailed a receipt that shows the amount your donated vehicle brought in at auction or $500, whichever is greater. You should expect to have your receipt of sale about four to eight weeks after you donate your vehicle.
Many factors can contribute to the final selling price of any vehicle, including the make, model and year of your car, along with any mechanical or physical damage to the vehicle that could affect its value. Arizona PBS’s vehicle donation representatives cannot guarantee the final selling price, which is your charitable contribution to Arizona PBS.
Yes. We accept vehicle donations of all conditions. Your vehicle doesn’t need to run but you will need proof of ownership.
Often it takes four weeks from the moment your vehicle is picked up to the time Arizona PBS receives notification of your donation. Then, it can take another two to four weeks to complete your membership and send it to you. You should receive your new member welcome approximately six to eight weeks from the date you donate your vehicle to Arizona PBS. If you are currently a member, you should have received your thank-you at the time of your pickup.
We will arrange to have your vehicle towed away on a scheduled date previously agreed upon with you. We will NOT pick up a vehicle without first contacting you.
Please call us at 1-844-CARS769 and we will get the process started.

Your vehicle donation is still tax deductible and will fall into one of these categories: 1). For low value vehicle donations you can claim the fair market value up to $500 without any additional paperwork besides the receipt we will provide at the time of the pickup. 2). If you donate a car that is worth more than $500, your deduction will be limited to the actual sale price of your car donation. If your vehicle is sold, all proceeds will benefit Arizona PBS, a 501(c)(3) charity. You will be provided with a receipt stating the final sales price of your vehicle within 30 days of the sale of your donated car. We will work to get top dollar for your car donation.

Donors are no longer responsible for determining the deductible value of their donation. Instead, they will receive IRS Form 1098-C, Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes if the proceeds from the sale exceed $500, stating the amount of the gross proceeds from the sale of the donated vehicle. The amount listed on IRS Form 1098-C, Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes will be the gross proceeds of the deductible donation.
Yes, our driver will issue a receipt at the time of pick-up. This is not your final tax receipt unless the sale of your vehicle does not exceed $500. This initial acknowledgement will indicate your name as well as the year, make, model and condition of the car you are donating. It will be your only receipt if your vehicle sells for less than $500. An IRS Form 1098-C, Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes will be mailed to you within 30 days of the sale stating the amount of gross proceeds received from your car, provided your vehicle sold for more than $500. This will be your tax receipt for your charitable contribution.
The value is determined by the gross proceeds raised from the sale of the donated vehicle. You no longer have the burden of determining the value yourself.
Arizona PBS has additional paperwork in reporting the gross proceeds raised from the sale of the vehicle to the donor and IRS. The process of obtaining the cash donation from the vehicle remains the same.
According to the tax law effective January 1, 2005, if the claimed value of the donated vehicle exceeds $500, the taxpayer is limited to the gross proceeds of the sale.
Effective Jan. 1, 2005, you are no longer required to have vehicles appraised. The value you may claim will be the amount of gross proceeds received from your vehicle.
