6 acts of kindness to celebrate moms this Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is one of the most celebrated holidays in the month of May. For the mom or mother figure that has given us so much, it can be difficult to find a gift that reflects what a mom means to us. Especially if our gift-givers are elementary age and their only job is to fill up their chores chart, it might be tough to select a gift.

However, moms appreciate any gesture that comes from the heart. Here are a few generous acts of kindness that are bound to wow mom.

1. Let mom sleep in. It may sound silly, but moms will appreciate the extra slumber. Many moms are so busy taking care of others that they take care of themselves last. An extra hour of sleep can make a big difference in a mom’s day. Take it a step further by preparing breakfast yourself and even preparing something for mom to enjoy when she wakes up.

2. Start or add to her rock garden. Pick out a good sized rock to paint for the mom in your life. If she doesn’t have a rock garden already, this can be a great time to start one. Each year, you can add to the collection. This is an aesthetically pleasing activity that also has so much meaning, and it is a unique way for moms to store special art.

3. Create a jar with choices for pampering. In a glass or plastic jar, add pieces of folded paper that have choices for pampering on them. For example, a foot rub, a day off of cooking, etc. It can be anything that you think a mom would enjoy. Mom can pull one out any time she wants to claim one!

4. Leave mom sweet notes. This one is simple or can be taken up a notch with creativity to really wow mom. Use a dry erase marker to write on her mirror, or slip a sweet note into a space she is sure to find it like her lunch box.

5. Create a scavenger hunt. This act of kindness can be as simple or as complex as you’d like. Have mom go through a series of clues and locations to finally end up at a final prize. The prize itself can be another act of kindness or a homemade present. The most enjoyable part is following the clues to it and seeing the creativity and time it took to create.

6. Plan a special at-home event. Whether it is setting the table and decorating for dinner or choosing mom’s favorite movie to host a family movie night, this option will be a hit! The entire family can assist and enjoy the experience too.
