“The Marlow Murder Club” season premiere

Sunday, Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. – Members can binge all four episodes of this series starting on the night of its broadcast premiere with Arizona PBS Passport.

Love getting engrossed in a good mystery? Then you will not want to miss “The Marlow Murder Club.”

Adapted from Robert Thorogood’s best-selling novel of the same name and presented by Masterpiece, “The Marlow Murder Club” follows a 78-year-old whiskey drinking, crossword puzzle author, Judith Potts, who routinely thumbs her nose at conventional expertise and regular good sense.

A retired archaeologist, Judith lives alone in a faded mansion in the peaceful town of Marlow, filling her time by setting crosswords for the local paper. Nothing ever happens in Marlow.

During one of her regular, wild swims in the Thames, Judith hears a gunshot coming from a neighbor’s garden and believes a brutal murder has taken place. Of course, the police believe it’s an open and shut case. When the police are reluctant to believe her story, Judith finds herself forming an unlikely friendship with local dog-walker and empty-nester, Suzie, and unfulfilled vicar’s wife, Becks, as they start an investigation of their own.

Eventually asked to assist with the official police investigation, headed by newly promoted Tanika, the women must piece together clues, grill suspect witnesses and face down real danger as they work against the clock to stop the killer in their tracks.

Staring Samantha Bond, Jo Martin, Cara Horgan and Natalie Dew, “The Marlow Murder Club” turns a cozy little mystery on its head.

As you collect the clues from A to Z, whether your name is Ana or Zoe, whatever your age, from 17 to 78, don’t miss the season premiere of this four-part series.

Also, join the PBS Books Readers Club at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, to hear author Robert Thorogood share insight on his writing process, explore the book’s themes about aging, independence and friendship, and to reveal how amazing women from his childhood inspired the dynamic female characters in the novel. He’ll also discuss the process for adapting “The Marlow Murder Club” books for PBS.

And we have a little tidbit for you! We’re excited to announce ahead of the Season 1 premiere, the cast and crew are already back in production on Season 2.
