Eight invites public to vote online for their favorite 2014 PBS Nerd Walk t-shirt design

WHAT: Eight, Arizona PBS will celebrate the creative minds of eight finalists in its first-ever PBS Nerd t-shirt art competition at an exhibition at Bookmans Entertainment Exchange, (8034 N 19th Ave., Phoenix 85021), Aug. 3 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. During the exhibit and afterward until 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 15, fans can select their favorite design on Facebook by “liking” the corresponding image in the 2014 PBS Nerd art competition photo album on the Eight, Arizona PBS Facebook page. Each Facebook “like” counts as a vote. Eight will announce the winning design Sept. 22. Eight will present every registered participant in the fourth annual PBS Nerd Walk on Nov. 1 with a PBS Nerd t-shirt featuring the winning design.

WHO:  Eight, Arizona PBS in partnership with Bookmans Entertainment Exchange will reveal the original artwork incorporating the iconic PBS Nerd logo designed by the eight finalists.

WHERE: Bookmans Entertainment Exchange, 8034 N 19th Ave., Phoenix 85021

WHEN:  Sunday, August 3 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

PHOTO OPPS:  Eight Arizona PBS “Nerd-in-Chief” Bob Beard and Katy Spratt, Phoenix community relations manager for Bookmans, will be available for photos and interviews.

Finalists are determined by a panel of judges representing Eight, Arizona PBS, Bookmans Entertainment Exchange and the national PBS office from the pool of qualified entries submitted by July 15, 2014. Details on the art competition and the 2014 PBS Nerd Walk are available at azpbs.org/nerd.
