Experts unsure if DACA helps or hurts job market

More from this show

As the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program faces revocation, many look to the current employment rate to justify both the continuance and termination of DACA.

One of the criticisms against DACA is, as Horizon host Ted Simons points out, the concern that DACA recipients “are taking jobs that Americans could do and they’re not ‘getting in line’ like those who are there trying to go through the process the proper way.”

Critics cite the low employment rate in the U.S. as justification for putting an end to DACA, but Matthew Thomas of the Thomas Law Firm believes it’s difficult to tell whether the DACA program is taking away jobs, or creating them.
