Joe Biden picks Kamala Harris to be his VP

On Tuesday afternoon presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden announced that CA Senator Kamala Harris will serve as his vice president. We spoke with political consultant, John Fetherston about Biden’s decision.
The announcement comes ahead of the Democratic National Convention which is set to begin on August 17.
Tweeting out his announcement, Biden didn’t shy away from describing some of the qualities of Harris.
I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate.

Harris responded to Biden tweeting out her appreciation for being selected.
.@JoeBiden can unify the American people because he’s spent his life fighting for us. And as president, he’ll build an America that lives up to our ideals.
I’m honored to join him as our party’s nominee for Vice President, and do what it takes to make him our Commander-in-Chief.

Harris becomes the first Black female vice presidential nominee and the third woman to be picked as a running mate of a major political party.
