Local Jonny’s Tavern and Café: A neighborhood favorite

More from this show

Right in the heart of Cave Creek, Local Jonny’s brings guests together to enjoy a laidback atmosphere and amazing food.

Jonny Oughterson, co-owner of the restaurant, said Local Jonny’s is the place everyone in town comes to enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Oughterson said the restaurant feels like a family gathering where people can enjoy good company and even better meals. On Friday and Saturday nights, guests can enjoy live music as well.

The best meal on the menu to start out your day is the Flat Tire burrito or Jonny’s Famous Pancakes. When lunch and dinner roll around, Oughterson said their burgers are the best seller.

Oughterson loves working alongside his wife and co-owner, Lauren. Originally starting out as a 20-year-old barista, Oughterson said he has grown up with the building. Oughterson jumped on the opportunity to take over ownership, making it the restaurant guests know and love today.

Oughterson said it was important for him to prioritize and support the local community.

“I love being a part of this community,” Oughterson said. “Everybody has really taken care of us here, and we like to do the same.”

Guest Ashley Flores said Local Jonny’s is right in the heart of the Cave Creek Community. Charmed with the Western flair, she said it provides a comforting and relaxing environment.

Flores’ go-to dish is the sriracha turkey sandwich with a side of fried potato wedges. Flores said it has the perfect amount of spice that compliments the tender turkey.

Known for delicious coffee, Flores said she always picks one up when she visits, adding she opts for the iced cold brew and adds cinnamon, honey and whole milk.

Flores’ pro tip: If you’re going on a Sunday, arrive early.
