Golf back injuries and treatment

More from this show

In an article published in a medical journal, three doctors at Phoenix’s Barrow Neurological Institute warn that as golfers swing harder, they increase the risk of serious back injuries. Back injuries are most common among professional and amateur golfers, comprising 55 percent and 35 percent of injuries among those groups respectively. We hear more about exactly how a golf swing can injure a golfer’s back and word about the latest treatment options from Dr. Randall Porter of Barrow. We also talk to former PGA and ASU golfer Gary Jacobson about his back problems and how they were fixed in surgeries performed by Dr. Porter.
