ASU Professor writes advice book for college students

More from this show

ASU Professor McCarthy was once a two-time college dropout, who eventually went on to graduate with his Master’s Degree. Now been teaching at ASU for twenty years. He has written a book called “How to Avoid F@#$%^&* Up in College”. It’s filled with advice from the perspective of a dropout’s mistakes, a parent who guided his kids through college, and a professor seeing lots of smart kids fail out of university. Joining us on Arizona Horizon is Information Systems Professor, W. P. Carey School of Business, ASU, Matthew McCarthy.

In his book, McCarthy shares the secrets he wished he knew when he was an ASU student. McCarthy, principal lecturer at the W. P. Carey School of Business, said he thinks his experience as a former ASU student gives him a unique perspective when offering kids advice,

McCarthy teaches multiple classes, such as CIS 105. He teaches hundreds of students per year, and says he has taught more than 70,000 students in his nearly 20 years of experience as a professor.
