Every Woman’s Marathon celebrates wellness and community
Nov. 13, 2025
On Nov. 16, 2025, women from across the U.S. gathered in Scottsdale for “Every Woman’s Marathon,” a wellness weekend designed by women, for women. More than just a race, the event celebrated sisterhood and community while being beginner-friendly and inclusive of all athletic abilities, ages and body types, with an extended 7-hour-45 minute time limit.
Sponsored by MilkPEP, the event also addressed barriers women face in running, including safety concerns, and highlighted the ongoing journey toward equality in the sport.
Lisa Borowsky, Mayor of the City of Scottsdale, and Miranda Abney, Vice President of Consumer Marketing at MilkPEP, joined “Arizona Horizon” to discuss the marathon.
The origins behind the “Every Woman’s Marathon” started a few years back when MilkPEP was on a mission to encourage women’s involvement in sports.
“We just got to a point where we wanted to create our own event where we could design it to be specifically for women because marathons traditionally are not created for women,” Abney said.
The course began at WestWorld of Scottsdale and ended in Old Town Scottsdale at the Civic Center. According to Mayor Borowsky, the marathon was expected to host 6,000 women. The event was not limited to women in Arizona though. They were expecting women from all 50 states, and from 10 countries, to participate in the marathon.
While this event brought many people to Scottsdale, the ultimate goal was to give woman an opportunity to be active at their own pace.
“We actually have a 7-hour and 45-minute window, which most women would be able to even walk the entire course,” Abney said. “We’ll have lactation stations along the course for mothers who are breast feeding.”
For both Mayor Borowsky and Abney, safety is their top priority. At the marathon, there were panels giving safety tips to women and law enforcement from the City of Scottsdale were on patrol ensuring everyone’s safety.
