Save historic Arizona; mitral valve device breakthrough; Black Children’s Book Week

More from this show

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” Bob Cannon from Save Historic Arizona joined us to discuss a new housing bill to protect historic neighborhoods in Phoenix. This bill, known as HB2375, will allow the building of multi-family homes without the demolishing of historic single-family homes.

This bill will have a hearing on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Also, we discussed Banner University Medical Center Phoenix’s revolutionary procedure for people living with a leaky heart valve. Dr. Paul Sorajja successfully completed this groundbreaking procedure using Valcare’s AMEND ring. This procedure is meant to send patients home fully recovered in just days instead of weeks.

Finally, we heard about the second annual Black Children’s Book Week, which will take place in Phoenix from February 22 to March 1, 2026. The weeklong celebration will shine a spotlight on local Arizona Black authors and their contributions to children’s literature.
