Trump’s global tariffs; ICE detention facility in Surprise; Arizona’s non-lawyer-owned firms

More from this show

On this episode of “Arizona Horizon,” Dale Rogers, Professor at W. P. Carey School of Business at ASU, and Dennis Hoffman, Director at the L. William Seidman Research Institute at ASU, joined us to discuss the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court to strike down President Donald Trump’s far-reaching global tariffs.

Also, Kevin Sartor, mayor of Surprise, joined us to discuss findings in newly released documents confirming that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) plans to use a 400,000-square-foot warehouse in the city as a detention center.

Finally, an Arizona program allows non-lawyers to own law firms, and the program is under scrutiny. It’s a policy experiment through the Arizona Supreme Court allowing investors and other non-lawyers to own law firms. Laura Gersony, a politics reporter at “The Arizona Republic” and azcentral.com, joined us to discuss the scrutiny.
